Size guide
How to measure yourself, how our sizes run, and what to do when you are between two of them. Five minutes here saves a return.
Step 1
Measure your natural waist
Find the narrowest point of your torso — usually just above the navel — and measure around it, keeping the tape level and snug but not tight.
Step 2
Measure your fullest hip
Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your seat and hips. This measurement decides whether the jean will sit smoothly.
Step 3
Measure an inside leg you already like
Take a pair of jeans that are the right length for you, lay them flat, and measure from the crotch seam to the hem. That number is the inside leg you should order.
Step 4
Tell us if you are between sizes
Email your waist and hip measurement with the cut you are considering and we will tell you which size we would send.
Inside-leg lengths
Three lengths, so you are not hemming a new pair
Every full-length cut is offered in three inside-leg lengths — 28 in, 30 in and 32 in. If you are unsure, order the length you already wear in a pair you like; that is a better guide than your height.
Between sizes
Which way to go, cut by cut
| Cut | Which way to go between sizes |
|---|---|
| Skinny & bootcut | Made with a little more stretch. If you are between sizes, take the smaller one — these will relax to your shape within a day of wear. |
| Straight, wide-leg & flare | Cotton-rich and firm. If you are between sizes, take the larger one, so the leg falls straight instead of pulling across the hip. |
| Mom & high waisted | Cut to a higher waist than the rest of the range. If you have a longer torso, take your measured size; if you are shorter-waisted, the cropped styles will sit higher. |
| Boyfriend | Deliberately slouchy, so it is meant to sit loose. Order your usual size rather than sizing up — sizing up is what makes a boyfriend jean look borrowed rather than relaxed. |
Common questions
Two things people ask before they order
Sizes, not guesses.
Sizes are offered across the range so different body types find their pair.
Straight answers.
Email us your waist and hip measurement and we will tell you which size we would send.
Sizing emails are answered by us, not by a script. If you have a fit you already like, or you are between sizes, tell us both and we will answer with the size we would send.
Not sure
Measure once, ask once, order once
We answer sizing emails personally. Send your waist and hip measurement with the cut you are looking at, and we will come back with a size and, if it matters, a reason.
